    Modern Language & Culture, BA - Spanish (Second Language and Culture Concentration)

    Program Information:
    Modern Language &Culture major with primary language of Spanish requires completion of 45 hours of Gen Education, 18 hours of lower-division major requirements (including SPAN 2001, SPAN 2002, and FL 2209), 9 hours of Related Studies (approved by the Spanish Advisor and the DFL Chair), 9 hours of Other Major Requirements (vary depending on student’s concentration), 12 hours of Free Electives, and 30 hours of upper-division (3000 and 4000 level courses) courses in Spanish as prescribed by the Department. Three (3) hours of the 30-hour major must be study abroad (or, in exceptional cases, an internship).

    This is a suggested 4-year schedule of courses based on the Modern Language and Culture (Spanish - Second Language and Culture Concentration) degree requirements and course prerequisites in the Fall 2017 Undergraduate Catalog. (If course prerequisites change, you must meet the prerequisites in effect when you take the course, so always check the current Catalog for course prerequisites.)

    Milestones/Notes:

    1. If the student has studied Spanish previously, s/he should take the placement test or speak with an advisor to determine which level to enter into.
    2. Must earn a grade of "C" or better in coursework.
    3. Not all courses are offered every semester.
    4. See KSU online Catalog or departmental website for pre-requisite(s) or course descriptions.
    5. This program requires three (3) hours of study or internship abroad. Most students complete this requirement during a summer term; regular semester options are also available. Students are eligible to take SPAN 3390 or SPAN 3398, Internship Abroad, any time after completion of SPAN 2002/2003.
